Privacy Policy
How this site handles information. The short answer is that it handles very little.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
In plain terms. The names you type are never sent to us. All lookups happen inside your browser using data files it downloads, so we have no record of what anyone searched for.
Who we are
NameCrestly is a free statistics tool operating at namecrestly.com. For any privacy question, use the contact page.
What we do not collect
- The names you search for. These never leave your device.
- Accounts, email addresses or passwords — there is no sign-up.
- Payment details. The site is free and takes no payments.
- Any profile of you, your family or your search history.
How the lookup works
When you search, your browser downloads small data files containing name statistics and performs the calculation locally. Our server sees a request for a data file — for example the file covering names beginning “emm” — but never the specific name you entered, the other half of the name, or the result. Each file covers many names, so the request does not identify your search.
Information collected automatically
Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs when a page or file is requested. These typically include the IP address, the time, the file requested, the referring page and the browser user agent. They are used to keep the site running, diagnose faults and detect abuse. We do not use them to build profiles of visitors.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are used. Where analytics are in place they are configured to record page-level traffic only, never the contents of a search. If we ever introduce analytics that set identifying cookies, this policy will be updated first and consent will be requested where required.
Storage in your browser
Two things may be stored locally on your own device:
- Recent searches — so you can return to a result.
- Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark.
Both live in your browser’s local storage, are readable only by this site on your device, and are never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser data removes them, and the “Clear” control beside recent searches removes those immediately.
Cookies
The site itself sets no tracking cookies. If advertising is introduced in future, any cookies an advertising partner sets would be disclosed here and consent obtained where the law requires it.
Third parties
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers and they receive your IP address as part of that request. The site is served through a hosting and CDN provider which processes requests on our behalf. We do not sell, rent or share data with anyone, because we hold essentially none to share.
Children
The site is general-audience and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, including under the GDPR and the CCPA. In practice we hold no personal data to act on beyond transient server logs. If you would like your IP address removed from those logs, contact us and we will do what our hosting provider’s retention allows.
Data about names, not people
The statistics on this site come from aggregate public datasets published by the Social Security Administration and the Census Bureau. They describe populations, not individuals. The site holds no records about any named person and cannot be used to look anyone up.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will be updated. We will not reduce the protections described here without saying so clearly.
