All tools

Sixteen ways to look at American names, all running on the same public datasets and all free to use without an account.

Where to start

If you only use one page, make it the main lookup — it combines most of what the other tools show into a single result. The specialised pages exist for when you want one dimension in more depth.

If you are curious about yourself

Start with the main lookup, then try the age distribution, which is usually the most surprising result, and the popularity chart to see what was happening to your name the year you were born.

If you are naming a baby

The combination checker is the practical one, because it holds your surname fixed and shows how much the first name changes the outcome. The rare name generator is good for ideas, and the gender checker is worth a look for anything that might be drifting.

If you are here for the data

The diversity index and the ranking tables are the closest to raw analysis, and the methodology page explains exactly how every figure on the site is produced.
